This Week, Nov 27

This week we only had two lessons in class, on the first day of class I have to do last week's test, that I missed because of being in VANAS. That same day, when I was doing the test, Mr. Davis explained two lessons, lessons 4-1, and 4-2, both lessons were pretty easy for me, because I had already done them in ALEKS. On the second day of class we learned lesson 4-3, that was also pretty easy... In class we have continued to use the centers, and it is better that way... because we can ask Mr. Davis questions, and he can answer them better, than when he is giving us a class. And our homework has been the same, as always, the SG, the OQ, and ALEKS. This week was pretty good, because we didnt have class on Friday. Next week will be better, because we have the Spanish Drama Show, and it will be really great!

This Week, Nov 22

This week I only had two classes, and in this classes, I learned about Solving equations and formulas, which I didnt understand... and weighed averages, which I understood for some parts. In the thing of equations and formulas, I didnt understand anything, because there is many weird things about it, I couldnt get it as I got other topics. On the other had, weighed averages, was easier, in the part of percents, like misture problems, but the other thing, the one that is with motion, I couldnt understand, what was I supposed to do. The best thing to happen to me this week is that we had VANAS and we won first place. Next week can be better, because I have a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursaday, and on Friday, we have no school!Our homework this week was a bit different, because like next week we have a test we had to do the review tests...

This Week, Nov 13

This week we learned only two lessons, on Tuesday we learned about percent of change, at first I didnt understand it so much, because it was sort of cofussing, but I later understood it. Then on Thursday we learned about solving equations and formulas, this is something I have a lot of trouble with, I really dont understand it, it is really confussing, of what I need to do. As in the last couple of classes we've done the centers thing, for me the center that helps me the most is the center that we can talk with Mr. Davis, because when I dont understand the HW, I can ask him, and when I dont understand the lesson I can tell him, and he helps me with it. The HW has been the usual, the SG, ALEKS, and the Blog, because the OQ we have been doing it in class. This week was really good, because we had a game against ECA and we won. Next week will be better, because we have VANAS, here at CIC.

This Week, Nov 10

This week we only learned 2 lessons, we learned lesson 3-5, and 3-6. In three five I had some trouble with some problems, but on lesson 3-6 I could do almost all the problems. As in the past couple of weeks we did the centers, so we talked with Mr. Davis, we did ALEKS, we did the SG, and we did the OQ inside the classroom. Class on Friday was different because we had to go down to the computer lab and do ALEKS the whole period, it was good because then I didnt need to do ALEKS over the weekend, so I had already completed my two hours of ALEKS. This week was good because it was Rafaela's party, and it was fun. Next week will be better, because it is VANAS!!...

This Week, Nov 1

This week we learned lessons 3-4 and 3-5. I missed lesson 3-4 because I was sick, but I did my study guide and catched up really quickly. I had a little bit of trouble with some of them because I was not there when they explained some exercises. On lesson 3-5, I was able to do everything, but some of the questions confused me. This week´s class was really fun, because we got to do a little of everything, like homework, ALEKS, and FF, we also got to talk with Mr. Davis to see if we had any troubles with the homework or class work. I preffer class being this way because it makes it better, because we are not only doing class work. Our homework was the usal Online Quiz, Study Guide, ALEKS, and Blog. Last week was really fun because I got to see some friends over the weekend. This week can be better because I am going to be with a friend.

This Week

This weeks we started a new chapter, we started chapter 3. On lesson 3-1, we learned how to write equations, this lesson was a little bit confusing in some parts, but I understood how to do it. On lesson 3-2, we learned how to solve equations, with addition, and subtraction. This lesson was really easy, because I already had learned it before, so I understood all of it really quickly. This week our homework was to do two hours of ALEKS, the study guides, the online quizes, and the blog. We also had to check the Fantasy Football account. This week, was really good, because I went to the beach, with a friend. Next week can be better because I am going to see my friends again.

This Week, Octuber 4th

This week in algebra we learned about the square roots, that was the last lesson of chapter two. The lesson was really easy, and I understood it really quickly. This week I was supposed to do a test, but I was away, so I will do it later. The homework, was to do aleks, the blog, Fantasy Football, and the project. I think that the best thing that happened to me this week was to go to VANAS and to win second place. Next week can be better, because I will have every homework organized, because this week it was kind of messy because like I was away, I have lots of homework.

My Time At Lagunazo

This year's Lagunazo was totally different than last year's. I had a lot of fun, and I met people from other grades. My cabin was a mix of six grade girls with the seventh grade girls. I really got to meet the six grade girls, and they are all really funny, and we had a great time. When we arrived to the camp, we picked up our bags, and went to our cabins, at the cabins, the counselors told us the rules of the cabin, and the camp, like that we couldn't step on the grass, or that we should always go out with closed shoes. After that, we went to eat lunch, after lunch we went to do some activities, that included high school and middle school. We got assigned to our groups, and the high schools went to their camp. When we got assigned to our groups we got told what activity we were going to do first, my group got to do canoes first, I shared canoe with Ale. We got taught how to flip a canoe without filling it with water. After giving us a brief explanation, of what to do, we could go wherever we wanted, so we went across the lake rowing, later we went and saw the other group that was doing bridges. We left the canoes to the other team, and my group started doing bridges, I was able to pass the whole bridge, and it was really hard, but at the same time really fun. Like we didn't have the canoes, we had to go swimming back to the lake shore. At the lake shore, we had our snack, that was brownies, and Parchita juice, then we got into the lake. When we got into the lake we used the thingy were you can hang in the air, and then jump into the water. After that we bathed, we ate diner, and finally we went to play capture the flag.

On the second day, we woke up, we had to go down to the lake, to do some stretching before breakfast, then we finally went to eat breakfast, after breakfast they gave us time to prepare the skits we had to do for the bonfire that same night. We did an activity that was about riddles, my team won that activity. We went to our next activity that was sports, in sports we played mini golf, and baseball. This activity was not that fun, but right after that we had lunch, after lunch we had time again to practice our skits. We went to ride horses after lunch, and it took us about 1 hour. We did an orientation activity that was not really fun, because they separated us into other groups. After that, we went into the lake, and did the same thing like the last day. At night we went to the bonfire, and every cabin did their skit, during that time the light went off at the camp, so the party we had next was kind of ruined, but the counselors solved it and got some cars, into the building where we normally arrive. When we went up to our cabins there was still no lights, and there was a cockroach in our room, so when we tried to kill it it ran into one of the air condition conducts and it stayed there. The eighth grade girls that were in the cabin next to ours came in later that night, and as they were getting settled the lights came back, we slept that night together.

The third and last day, was really tiring, because we had the amazing race, but this year's amazing race was not the same like last years was. This year we ran not only around the lake, but all around the camp. We had to run a really high mountain, and it was really hard. Like there was no rain whatsoever everything was pretty dry, and it was really hot, and like it was really hot, we got tired easily. My team arrived last, and we didn't even had time to get into the lake for the last time. We had lunch and we got on the buses back to school.

Overall the trip was really fun, but really different from last year.

Three Ideas For the Project

My first idea, is to make more publicity. For example, if we make the Halloween Carnival this year, like about a month before it, there is already adds in clubs or in supermarkets. This can be made by use, the students of CIC at technology class, each of us could design a brochure, and then show it to the school public relations people to see wich ones can be handed around. My second idea, is to make activities with Venezuelan schools. For example, we could make a special day, in which one school comes to visit CIC for free, or maybe to do parties with them. This can be made by STUCO, and parents of the school, many parents obviously know parents from other schools , so they can organize it. My third idea is to spread the word around to friends, and parents. If you have a friend that does not like so much their own school tell them to go take a look at CIC to consider it. This can be made, by every single person that works, studies, or visits CIC, because when you step inside a school, and everybody is so together like CIC is, people might like that, because it would not be like the schools that are really big that everybody is separated in groups. This are the ideas I most likely think that will work, because I had others like moving the school to another place, but that will take time, and the idea of re-painting everything outside school to make it nice, will take a while, because there are lots of things to clean, paint, and fix.

This Week, September 12

This Monday, we had a test, the test was online. I had to repeat the test two times, because the first time, I had a really low score, and then I got my score up. This week in class we stated chapter 2, and we did lessons 2-1 and 2-2. Lesson 2-1 was about Rational Numbers in the number line. Lesson 2-2 was about adding and subtracting rational numbers. The lessons were really easy, and I understood them very quickly. The homework for this week was a little bit different, but we still kept doing the study guides, and the online quiz, and the blog. The only thing in our homework that was different, was that we had to do 1 hour of ALEKS. I think that next week can be better, because we are going to start doing to do more things with Fantasy Football. The best thing to happen to me this week, was that we had a game on Thursday, and it was really fun.

This Week, September 6

This week in class, we learned the last three lessons of chapter 1. The lessons were, 1-7, 1-8, and  1-9. This week was different from others, because on Tuesday we had to do all the classwork for each lesson, and nobody explained it to us, so we did what we thought we could do. Then on Thursday, Mr. Davis explained all the lessons so we could understand them better. Our homework was the same, that we do every week, except that we didn't need to do the online quiz for each lesson. The only homework that was different, was the chapter 1 online quiz, to see what did we really know about the chapter. Next week can be better, because we are going to learn more. The best thing that happened to me this week, was that I spent the whole weekend with my best friends. I think I am prepared for the test tomorrow.

This week in class we learned about the identity and equality properties, the distributive property, and the Associative and Commutative properties. Before every lesson we copied the vocabulary of each lesson, and Mr. Davis Explained the lesson for the day. With all the lesson we have done in class work from the book. This week's homework, has been like this past weeks homework, that were the study guides depending on the lesson, and the online Quiz, and the blog post. Next week will be better because now I feel less shy in class and I feel more comfortable.

This Week. August 23

The lessons learned this week, where lesson 1-2 Order of Operations, for this we did some examples in the board, and on the book, also the review of the homework, and for lesson 1-3 Open Sentence, we copied the vocabulary, the activities we did where some examples on the board, some activities from the book, the review of the homework, and the exit slip. our homework for the week was to do our study guides depending on the lesson of each day, and the on line quiz that are the next lessons quiz, of what we are going to learn the next day, and also our blog post. I think that the best thing to happen to me this week, was Ale's B-day. Next week is going to be better because like I know more people in the class i start to feel more comfortable.

My First Week In Algebra

The lessons we learned this week, was lesson 1-1 Variables and Expressions, some activities we did, was to copy the vocabulary, after that Mr. Davis explained the lesson for the day, and gave us the exercises we needed to do that day. Our Homework assignments for next class where to do the 1-1 study guide, and 1-2 online quiz, to do the blog post, and also the Yahoo account for FF.  I think that the best thing to happen to me this week was spending time with my best friend. Next week can be better, because I am starting to know the people in the class and I wont be that shy.
